I have had a love of history since I was a child. I grew up in an old Victorian home built by my ancestors, surrounded by old 1800’s photos and memoirs and loved it.
I started sewing when I was about eight. I have always loved to create things. I started with doll clothes, pillowcases , pillows and small projects and moved up to quilts and comforters. I made a few clothes in high school, but didn’t really get going again sewing until years later.
For years, I would look for long ankle length skirts, but really never found the “right” one for me. I found it difficult to buy long skirts off the rack, so I decided I would just start making my own clothes. This way they could be tailored to my liking. This combined with my love of history, made me decide to start sewing historical Victorian replica clothing.
My love for history combined with my love for sewing and to create and Thornton Square was born.
